This is where we bring you music from what we call "The Organic Years". Back in those days, strange brew created so much music that the world never really got to fully hear it . We coined the term "Organic" because everything had a raw and uncut sound to it. Everything was composed and produced by the creative mind of Jamal Jupitur, and was so gritty and dirty. No master on the tracks and rough mixes. It was so real that you couldn't deny it. It was a reality that existed in our world, followed by real stories told from the way we saw it. Strange Brew Records time frame for creating projects in those days spanned from 2002-2007. So a good 5 years of raw material existed but was only released in small amounts to certain mom n pop record spots. No real heavy internet exposure was done either. However, that's all a thing of the past because we now present to the world our classic sound and our music. All tracks are free downloads, but all rights are reserved, and all tracks are copy written. For any questions please contact us thru email at: strangebrewmedia1@gmail.com
For those of you who don't know, Erban Legendz were not only rappers, but they were songwriters, pre-thinkers, and true artists. Erban Legendz consist of four lyrically gifted MC's. Technically five( one not pictured) Spoon Gee, A.Dot, Struse, Jamal (aka) Greedy, and J-Sun, which is the one not pictured. As a matter of fact, let's start with J-Sun. He is the artist of the group for his ability to draw thought provoking masterpieces. His critic acclaimed art work speaks for itself with the powerful and vivid images of the people, and the world around him he sees. Not to mention, he is also a music composer. His beats depict a state of self knowledge and realism, in a world that lacks the ability to teach and be taught. Now let's go over to Spoon Gee. He is a lyrical genius, probably the greatest of them all when it comes to lyrics. Not to take anything away from the other guys, because they are all brilliant in their own ways, but Spoon is a super wordsmith. All of his rhymes are so thought out and real, They are seen thru the reflection of his life, which is why what he says is so powerful. Then there's A.Dot, his gift is in his ability to tell those great stories. I'd have to say, he is one the best storytellers that I've heard yet, hands down. It's like any track he raps on, he makes his own. A.dot was probably the most marketable one of Erban Legendz. Struse was also a force to be reckoned with. He was the deep one of the group, meaning, his political views reflected that, in some of the songs. His lyrical content was so abstract that we called him Abstruse, which later got shortened to just "Struse". His actual name was I.N.V.E, which stands for "If nature's void evolved. He was the nature which later evolved into what he represented to the world and erban legendz. Now for our final act, and I mean just that, because this man is his own act. He wears many hats and is sort of like a jack of all trades. He is the brains behind the magic and behind mostly all of those bangers you've heard from strange brew. He is also a great lyricist with a knack for writing his surroundings. He is Jamal Jupitur, but during the erban legendz days, he performed under the moniker "Greedy". He was composer and producer of the music for the self contained album. Jamal was a very busy man at that time and was doing production for not only erban legendz, but for others as well. However, erban legendz was probably his most time consuming project to date. It originally had more than 14 songs , it was more like 20 but was narrowed down to 18, then to 16, then to 14. Afterwards, the album was put together, but it sat for years without being promoted, released, or anything. That was due in part to the group splitting because of creative differences. Erban Legendz lasted as a group for a good 3 years(2001-2004) and recorded a fairly large amount of material and solo projects within that time frame. They had a good run!!!
Now the question is, will there ever be another Erban Legendz project???
This is the classic album from Hip hop collective Erban Legendz. It was originally completed in 2002 but was never released to the world until now. Self contained is very raw and uncut, rough mixes, gritty content. This album is definitely a HIP HOP CLASSIC!!!
Back during a time when gas prices were cheap and my space was popular!!!
The year was 2005, and the group was Da Blackhole. This was another one of Jamal's projects, and also a connection to Erban Legendz. Da Blackhole consisted of: Jamal Jupitur (Formerly known as Greedy) and Ern (A.K.A) Conchenz. They were a powerhouse when working together, and complemented each others styles well. Ern was a singer who decided to rap and turned out being really good at it, so he fused the two styles together, which was brilliant. He was also an artist, and did the album covers, and created the strange brew records logo. Jamal was the business man, and handled everything else. Actually, they were a group before Erban Legendz, believe it or not, but just never put out any material. They had been good friends since '89, and formed in the early 90s. They mainly did parties and invited everyone they knew. During those days, Jamal and Ern did alot of clubbing, so everyone they knew supported their music, which made it easy to pack house parties all over milwaukee's eastside. In 1997, Ern moved to Salt Lake City, Ut. and Da Blackhole took a backseat for a while, but that only gave Jamal time to get Strange Brew established. During that time, he formed Erban Legendz. By the then, Ern had gotten himself married with his first child and was settled in Utah living well. He reached out to Jamal, and came back to Milwaukee to visit 4 or 5 years later. Upon that visit, Jamal played him most of the Erban Legendz project, as well as some other music he had been working on, and Ern was VERY impressed. He stated that he was ready to pick back up where they left off at, and that he wanted to put out Da Blackhole album as planned. They quickly started putting ideas together for the album's concept, and decided to name it "2 Sidez 2 Every Story". Before Ern went back to Utah, they had already recorded a few songs. A couple of months later, Jamal ended up packing up his studio equipment, and flying out to Utah for the weekend and recording all of Ern's vocals for the album. When Jamal came back to Milwaukee, he put his vocals on it, and it was a done deal. Once the album was completed and a copies were made, Ern flew back to Milwaukee and got with Jamal to discuss having a record release party for the album. A couple of months later, they rented out a sports bar, had T-shirts printed, rented a couple of limos, and packed the spot with over 200 family and friends who showed up to support their release party. That was a great time for them, because they started getting offers to do shows in Utah and Milwaukee. They even flew to New York to promote Strange Brew Records with flyers and music. Soon they started preparing for a second album. This time it would be more grittier with real life vivid street tales. They called this one "Hardcore Storiez", and it was completed in 2007. It was a deep album and there was something on it that everyone could relate to. They even did shows to promote it, but for some reason the album didn't get the attention the first one did, even though it was better. Jamal wasn't too happy about it, but he was willing to keep going with it. However, Ern was not thinking on that same level, He felt like he had exhausted all of his possibilities of helping Jamal make the label work. Plus, they both ended up spending more money than they made back. Ern had felt like he had enough, and bowed out gracefully. Jamal felt conflicted because it was his second group that failed. He was devastated. That was upon the time when Jamal sank into deep depression and became a recluse for one year. He felt like that was the beginning of the end. Not only that, but no one was communicating with him nor was he allowing anyone to do so. Ern went on to pursue other entertainment venues, and after the year was up, Jamal was sure about having a career as a solo artist, and started back quietly working on new material. That's how the Invisible project was born............Stay tuned!!!
