Strange brew media group is a self contained company. We do everything independently. Our music is all original and most of our content comes from everywhere. We operate on an underground level, meaning mostly everything done is raw and uncut. We have been around for quite some time now and have been putting music projects out on strange brew records since 2003. We have been under construction for over 5 years, but due to a demand for classic strange brew material, we've decided to touch the world with music and entertainment on a permanent level. We'd just like to take the time out to showcase not only the classic stuff but also hit you in the head with a fresh, new, and innovative perspective on how we are doing things nowadays.

THE HISTORY OF STRANGE BREW RECORDS
Strange brew records was created in 2002 from the mind of entrepreneur Jamal "Jupitur" Jamerson. He is also CEO of the company. Jamal is a Wisconsin native hailing from Milwaukee. His passion is and has been strictly music for a longtime. He loved making it, writing it, and later on in life, performing it. Strange Brew Records was his vision of what the Milwaukee Rap sound and Hip-hop scene was to him and his peers. It was his way of putting out material that he wanted to hear verses another record label taking control of his sound or telling him what to do. Strange Brew Records started off small but mighty. Meaning, the sound was out of this world, it was something that no one else was doing at the time, and it was kind of incredible. Jamal composed and produced 90% of the music for his artists. The other 10% were a couple of brilliant producers who were friends of his that he'd call on when the productions became overwhelming. The studio set-up was originally in the basement of his home, with a booth in the closet, which Jamal soundproofed and used for his artists. About a year later, he moved up to the attic where it was SUPER spacious and set-up shop there. The recording sessions were everyday all day and intense. Jamal was running all of the sessions back to back and at one point, was even working on four projects at once, including his own. This never left a lot of time for him to sleep. During those days, it was all word of mouth. He really didn't have access to laptops and people who could help him build a site, without it costing thousands of dollars. This was even long before he knew how to build a website. My how times have changed! That is all a thing of the past. But anyway, in those days, he printed up thousands of flyers, handed some to his friends and they posted them all over Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin. They even drove to Chicago and flew to New York to promote the label. Jamal himself did a lot of promoting in Chicago because it was only a hop, skip, and a jump from Milwaukee. This enabled him to reach as many people as possible. Many of the artists on his roster over at Strange Brew was never signed to contracts or any binding agreements. Back then everything was based on friendships and hand shakes. Jamal was even so cool about the situation, until he wasn't even copy writing any of his music. That came back to haunt him later on. I think that Jamal was just interested in getting his music and artists heard. He wanted the world to know who Strange Brew Records was and that they were all from Milwaukee. Eventually, he ended up having a website built for the label but it turned out to be a waste. He didn't know how to run it or even maintain it, he over spent on it, lost money on it, and never turned one profit from it. That was the beginning of the end right then and there. Not too long after that, artists started dropping off of the label like flies. Some due to not agreeing with Jamal's willingness to broaden the sound and make it more mainstream. Then there were money disputes, jealousy, greed, and a host of other issues. Soon from there Jamal ended up shutting down the website and pretty much giving up on Strange Brew Records. That was around 2008. Jamal had felt like he used up all of any possibility he had to get his label off the ground. He sunk into deep depression for a year and did nothing good. After the year was up, Jamal slowly gravitated back to music but not really focusing on the label as much as he was at being an artist. He continued to compose and produce as well but was still at a lost as to what to do with Strange Brew Records. He didn't know whether to bring it back or leave it be. However, Jamal did revive Strange Brew and built a site for it himself, but due to lack of time to focus on it, he ended up dropping it again. The third time is a charm, which this is just that. Jamal made a conscious decision to rebuild Strange Brew Records but due to popular demand. He never thought so many people even knew about strange brew, let alone, still remembered it. Plus, he still has a room full of unheard and unreleased music from those days. Believe it or not, most of the tunes still sound relatively up to date with what is already out here. Only difference is that it is still in a class by itself. The lyrical content was way ahead of it's time because they were speaking on things that are happening right now in today's society. Nothing short of amazing!

Within the hiatus of strange brew records, Jamal created another website entitled "Jupitur Music" to showcase his fresh and innovative "Trap," Hip hop" and "Alternative Rock" compositions . He was also setting himself up to become a composer for television and film. However, he decided to close out his Jupitur music website and transfer it over to create what is now known as "Strange Brew Media Group". This website will not only showcase what Jamal built from the organic days, but will also focus on what is relevant now. Jamal wants to show another side of strange brew, but on the entertainment end as well. There will be videos, documentaries, film skits and dialog. New music is definitely on the rise! Tracks and instrumentals are now available on the personal Jupitur's Planet music page from the strange brew media website. Also go to our Creative Minds blog page to view indie artists from everywhere. Jamal's major goal is to build a community within another community, to bring all artist's of every kind together. Strange Brew Media is NOT a label that will be signing artists or putting out material from anyone who is not already affiliated with us or who we haven't gotten permission from to use their material. We are a raw and uncut media site. Most of our material is raw and as is. Especially, the material from the organic years, mostly all of it is un-mastered with rough mixes. Jamal said that was just his way of letting the world hear it in it's original form, without all the gimmicks and polish to it. He wanted everyone to hear the true sound of what each artist really sounded like. Although, nowadays, his trap mixes and hip hop beats are much more polished. I suppose that would be because he's pushing it for a film or television show, and they have so many different standards on how the quality of the sound should be. Don't get me wrong, he didn't necessarily abandon that raw sound he had, he just fine tuned it. He made it more marketable in certain aspects. That was Jamal's sole purpose for turning this into a media company. It gives other artists a platform to express themselves and get a true response back, in return. Strange Brew Media is a place where expression lives and magic happens.
